Mengasah Kemahiran Menulis

Sepanjang 5 tahun berlalu saya semakin menyedari kemahiran menulis di kalangan pelajar semakin menurun. Semasa membaca laporan kertas kerja mahupun jawapan di skrip banyak kesalahan tatabahasa, kesalahan ejaan, penggunaan perkataan yang tidak tepat, kemahiran menaip yang lemah, dan sebagai dapat dikenalpasti.

Kadang-kadang pelik juga memikirkan bagaimana pelajar tidak perasan dengan kesalahan-kesalahan yang dirasakan terlalu ringkas seperti penggunaan tanda "koma" dan "titik".  Mungkin juga pelajar membuat tugasan di saat-saat akhir yang menyebabkan mereka tidak berkesempatan untuk membaca semula dan menyemak kertas kerja sebelum dihantar kepada pensyarah.

Semalam saya terbaca satu artikel yang dikongsi rakan di Facebook berkenaan masalah serupa yang dihadapi oleh pensyarah di luar negara. Alhamdulillah saya tidak berkeseorangan. Namun, satu jalan perlu difikirkan bagaimana mahu menyelesaikan masalah ini.










Why Can’t College Students Write Anymore?


Is it just me, or are student competencies like basic writing skills in serious peril today? Granted, I am about a decade in to my teaching career, but even within this fairly short span, I have noticed a startling decline in the quality of written work turned in by my students, regardless of which institution (community college, private, four year school) the papers are coming from.

Format Presentation - Small Research Assignment

Dear Student,

For small research project, you just need to prepare the PowerPoint slide. Here is the format.

Slide
1. Cover - name, student ID, topic (e.g. Set your Punctuality)
2. Presentation outline
3. Introduction - brief background of the topic
4. Research objective - state at least 2 obejctives
5. Definition of term - appropriate term related to your topic
6. Literature review - brief about your topic (e.g. advantages of punctuality) ( at least 2 slides)
7. Research methodology
8. Findings (more than 5 slides) - demographic profile and data e.g. tables, graph, etc
9. Conclusion/ Summary
10. References - please refer APA format for citation


It is estimated to be more than 20 slides all together depend on amount of your data.
